Welcome to the IAWA Biographical Database. The purpose of the database is to document the women's involvement in architecture and landscape architecture, industrial and interior designer, and urban planning from around the world. Use the links on the left to search or browse for women who practiced architecture and related design professions. The International Archive of Women in Architecture (IAWA) established in 1985, is a joint program of the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and the University Libraries at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). The IAWA collects information to fill serious gaps in the availability of primary research materials for architectural, women's, and social history research. If you have information about a woman in architecture not listed in this database, please send information using the "Add a New Person to the IAWA Database" feature.
